I love Firefox, personally I think it is slightly better over for Safari. Although Safari is well polished the plug-ins for Firefox make it more useful to me. But today is very special. Firefox has a new release, version 3 and it is availble to download. As well as this they are trying to set a new world record for the most downloads in a single day. So here is you chance to be part of a world record.
If you head over to the Spread Firefox site, you can get a link to the client. It has been a bit funny for me over the last hour, directing me to the version two download page, although that small but seems to have been fixed. There is also the localized versions if you don’t speak English. Downloads are in the slow lane. Five million hits in a day to download a ~15mb file will kill any server even if they have multiple servers.
At this point I was going to do an initial first impression of FF3, but it has take so long to download, I have managed to write this article, get a drink watch 10 minutes of France vs Italy. It seems i’ve got stuck in the slow lane. Tomorrow I will have to post what I think of the application.
