High Definitions Videos In Front Row 2

High Definitions Videos In Front Row

This is a rather cool tip for any one who uses Front Row and likes watching the movie trailers. If you have a high speed internet connection and a wide monitor (who doesn’t?) then you might want to change the default settings to make the trailers high definition. It is a simple terminal command.

Make sure you have used Front Row at least once, this makes sure all of the defaults are set. Close Front Row and open Terminal and type the following.

defaults write com.apple.frontrow TrailerBypass http://www.apple.com/trailers/home/xml/current_720p.xml
killall FrontRow (may not be needed)

This will set it up so you can download HD trailers. It may not work for every movie and varies depending how Apple has it set up. Unfortunately for those who have really high definition screens I couldn’t find a 1080p version.

If you want to reset the settings back to standard def use the following.

defaults delete com.apple.frontrow TrailerBypass

defaults write com.apple.frontrow TrailerBypass http://www.apple.com/trailers/home/xml/current_480p.xml

and then.

Makes Front Row a bit more useful if you have it set up on a TV or just like good quality videos.
