What an excellent concept and service! I am an Apple Certified consultant with a huge number of clients. When I looked at your site and saw Sugar Sync in action, I immediately contacted a group of my clients to tell them about Sugar Sync. By making it easy for them to synchronize files between computers and their iPhones AND get a secure backup at the same time, you’ve resolved an ongoing issue for these people and companies. Your pricing is very reasonable as well, something that’s unusual in the online backup market.
I look forward to telling even more of my clients about Sugar Sync!

Thank you for the time and effort you put into Mac Tricks and Tips, especially for us (me) neophytes. I look forward to your daily email. I will pass on this site to my son and his friends who have all recently upgraded to iMacs. They need your advice as much as I do. I don’t have an ipod but my two sons do as well as all their friends. I’m sure they will want to own Sugar Sync.

I am a systems administrator for the Integrated Digital Media Institute at Polytechnic Institute of NYU (formerly Polytechnic University). I have several personal systems that use on a daily basis. I do have backups of my software, but they are all in my apartment, and on personal systems. This is an excellent tool to have an offsite backup of my important documents and I think I may use this fairly often. I don’t backup enough, and the reason is because I just don’t have the time at home.
I’ve looked into S3 from Amazon, Sugar Sync is cheaper, and way nicer!
By the way, I love the site, I look at much of the programs you show, continue the good work.

I’ve been looking at synchronization options because I’m starting a new position as a college professor and will need regular backups of my data (lectures, presentations, academic research, administrative work). As a graduate student writing my dissertation, I lost several months worth of work due to 2 different hard drive crashes on 2 different computers. I’m now fanatical about backups.
I’m planning on using Sugar Sync for backups instead of Apple’s Time Machine because I want my data backed up in multiple places. I no longer trust my backups to just one hard drive. Sugar Sync backs up my files remotely AND on my other computers. I’m also using Sugar Sync instead of carrying my files home on a USB stick. I’m fed up of being confused by multiple versions of files. Sugar Sync means that I don’t even have to think about copying my files or checking the versions between my home and office.
I want my backup solution to be like my Mac: something that just works. Using Sugar Sync means that I can get on with doing my work instead of worrying about my files and backups.

I’m a photography student and I am looking for a good online solution for having my photographs accessible wherever I am. I tried mozy but wasn’t happy with it. Sugarsynch seems to go one step further.

i think this is a great storage/sync solution. would be great for keeping my important file backed up too. at university we only get a measly 100mb of storage space on the university server, and then its not even accessible on macs! yes they still discriminate against us mac users. so i could definitely see myself making use of this for the extra storage. udrive is only accessible on capmus and i often forget thing when i’m at home. i can imagine this being great for collaborating with people.

oh and to add further comment (because i was just excited to see a nicely designed storage system and had neglected the idea of “to the best comment goes the prize”), anything with sugar in the title deserves some recognition. it has proven true for my favorite foods, terms of affection, pop songs, porn stars, and now, computer back-up systems. touche, i am sure there is a pattern in there somewhere.

In SugarSync the most valuable thing for me is not worrying about the backup of files or folders. That is done silently and flawlessly… And when you have several years of research (for a PhD) in stake, trust me when I say it manages to keep you mind calmed.
The well made online portal is quite handy to access your files from any computer, even when you are in another country and realize… Ops! I forgot some photos for my presentation. … Oh, cool, I can download them from my SugarSync account.
I’m also syncing some folders between my iMac and my MBP, making it easy to move between them, which I make often.
Oh, and have I mentioned the cool little icons that you can associate with your computers?
Trustworthy, well built (both online and desktop), fast, silent and economic. What more can you ask?
