Finder Droplets 3

Tip

Finder Droplets

Hey

These little programs are quite interesting. They are called Finder Droplets. They are very small applications that you put in your Finders menu bar. You can then use these buttons to quickly open documents in various text editors. It is quite a new concepts which I haven’t seen before.

Once as you have downloaded your Finder Droplets and you drag the folder into your Applications folder you can place them in your menu bar. Once as you do this any file you drag onto the button will open the application and that folder. This video sums it up pretty well.

Currently the little apps only have:

  • Coda
  • MacVim
  • Xcode
  • TextMate
  • Smultron
  • BBEdit
  • Emacs

It is only limited. I don’t see why you couldn’t just place the application as a shortcut in your Finders menu bar. Admittedly these do look more styled and match in more.

Why not simply drag the App of interest to the Finder window Toolbar? An icon/Alias for the App will be created in the toolbar for use.
