ClockSaver

ClockSaver is a port of the Screensaver-module “KClock” found in the KDE Desktop Environment to Mac OS X. It shows a simple but elegant analog clock where you can customize the colors for the clock hands, the color for the clock scale, whether a second hand should be visible, and the size of the displayed clock.

As a comment, i must say that DropClock uses REALLY HUGE amounts of memory and CPU time. Maybe it will work well on a MacBook Pro top series, or iMac or Mac Pro, not on MacBook Air and MacBook. I’ve tested it on a iBook G4 1.5GB RAM 1.33GHz and it goes really really slow (in fact, it’s so slow, that when you see the minutes falling, they’ve passed out and must redraw the screen xD)

Remember, it uses huge amounts of RAM, video processing, and CPU. But it worths :)

World Clock not works fine in spanish. at 10pm he says its 11pm

I’m with you on the “not as cool” in the immediate term, but saving money is cool (and it’s not an insignificant sum, depending on your electricity prices) and the environment matters. Ergo, I choose immediate uncoolness. It’s OK, I never was “one of the cool kids”.

@Ricky. I suppose turning your monitor off is good for the environment, but not as cool as watching a cool screensaver.

I hate to be a killjoy, but letting your screen turn off or – preferably – the computer go into sleep mode is way better for the environment/electricity usage. I never use a screen saver because of this – just set the “screen turn off” time to 5 minutes and the “computer sleep” time to 15 minutes.

The amount of energy saved by letting the screen turn off on my 20 inch apple cinema display is about equal to a 40 watt light globe. Turning off the computer and associated peripherals saves 200-300 watts of power (ie equal to 2 or 3 100 watt globes). I don’t know what that equates to in dollars but from my measurements it’s one of the biggest energy users in my house.

A couple of these may use up a lot of CPU, they are graphic intensive.

@K I don’t know what you problem is, you are better off asking the developers.

Polarclock is fantastic, but I’ve noticed it makes my fan run at a fast speed. I’ve used Fliqlo for a long time and its probably my favorite clock screen saver.

I have a problem with the Due 3 Screensaver, apparently it is outputing way too many log messages and it’s flooding my system with it thus causing syslogd to take up much of my CPU usage. Does anyone else have this problem with it?
