Action Gear Mini-Review + Competition 32

Action Gear Mini-Review + Competition

If you cast your mind back a couple of days a new sponsor of the site joined the ranks. This site was ActionGear. They have kindly offered as part of their promotion a competition to give away three (3) licenses of their new application ActionGear. You can win a new copy without having to do much at all. This post it self will split down into two sections one for the mini review so you know what ActionGear is about and the competition with the rules and regulations.

Action is your to-do list organizer. It is designed to quickly and easily organise your to-dos so you can quickly add, remove and manage what you have to do. In this life you need something simple to keep track of the millions of things that are always bugging up. Although there is to-do managers in Mail and iCal, they are not very useful. ActionGear incorporates far more features and settings to make it really useful.

It is simple to use ActionGear. You simply add your task using the buttons below, these are action (your to-do), reference and attachment. You can use them for different things. You then set some variables such as tags, flags, and other data and you are ready to go. You can then sort and organise them as you would with any other application. It is quite hard to explain all of the hidden features without rambling or going on for pages and pages. The best option really is to download the app or check out the video explaining a bit about the application.

Personally I think it is a good application. There is only a couple of draw backs. One, it doesn’t have a dock icon so you can’t Command + Tab into the application, your have to use the shortcut or the menu bar option. This does get a little annoying personally. I am always using Command + Tab and this seems to brake my habit. Another slight, but less worrying drawback is the price. It is a little expensive at $29, but if you do use it a lot you will get your monies worth.

To win one of three licenses for this application simply enter a comment below stating your entry. It can be just a simple, let me into the draw or (and preferred) what you think of the application. As this is a new application I am sure the developer would love to here your comments.

The rules:

  • One entry per person, don’t spam the comment box.
  • You will only win one license
  • When leaving a comment please leave a valid email address so ActionGear can contact you.
  • The draw will last a week and will finish 20th of Oct at 10pm (or if I am out a little later)
  • Please write a proper sentence in your entry, otherwise my spam filter will catch it and your entry will not be recorded.
  • The winner will be chosen at random using a random number generator. You comment number is your entry number.
  • My decision is final. You can plead your case, but I say what goes.

Not many rules, just adhere to them, and you could be in with a chance of winning a free copy. I has been a long time since I have had a competition so I would like to thank once again ActionGear for being so generous.

Let me in to the draw please. I tried out the trial and I say it is exactly what I’ve been looking for.

Let me in to the draw please. The app looks very promising – hope to see iPhone integration though. If it has that, I will consider giving it a bash. Most of the ‘to-do’ apps just don’t seem to work for me.

Please enter me in the drawing.

I am now testing the app to see if it will enhance my current workflow. I have been bouncing between Things, Logbook (Backpack) and VoodooPad to keep track of projects/tasks at work. It has grown into a amalgamation of all three for different reason and I’m hoping ActionGear can drop my need down from 3 to 2 (or one!). :)

Exactly the application I have been looking for! iCal works nice, but it’s not possible to divide tasks to smaller tasks. But I’m not convinced that it will be worth 30$

‘They have kindly offered as part of there promotion’s a competition to give away three (3) licenses of there new application ActionGear.’?

Oh dear, oh dear! Their, not there (twice). ‘Promotion’s'? Why the apostrophe? License should be licence.

Your product is creative and smooth. It has a clean and simple layout that allows anyone even one that is new to mac, use it. I have been searching for a clean, and simple task tracker for a while, and the previous ones have either done what i don’t want them to do or just fail. Your product, is by far, a clean and abrasive example of what I am looking for.

    Add me to the drawing.

    Have a good day,

    Matthew Ruiz.

Please enter me in the draw as well. I’ve been trying to use iCal’s to-do system with Anxiety, but it’s just missing something. So far, my only problem with it is trying to find a hotkey combination that isn’t already in use (the default Option-Space is already used by Quicksilver).

good choice for people who do not want to spend their whole day organizing their day. :-)

Please allow me in to the draw for ActionGear.

This sounds like a worthwhile app that has a particular focus without being complicated or confusing to use.

It should bring about a level of organization to everyone’s daily list of tasks and to-do’s.

Thank you for a chance to win a copy.

I too would like to win a copy of Action Gear.

I’ve been trying out a lot of to-do list progs, and haven’t yet found the one I prefer. And BTW, I prefer one with a menu icon to one with a dock icon!
