Coda - Mac Web Development App

If you have been following my latest tweets I have mentioned regularly about website development. The reason behind this is due to the fact I am using Coda by Panic. Coda is an all in one application for developing and maintaining websites. It really has everything you need and trust me when I say you don’t need another program at all, not even your web browser. The program is a mix of CSSEdit, TextMate, Expandrive, Terminal, Transmit, Versions, Safari and a reference manual all in one.

Kinemac - 3D Presentational Tool - MacUpdate

Kinemac has appeared on MacUpdate a couple of times. I haven’t reviewed it before simply because it is a large, expensive, program and needs a good couple of hours to work out how to use it and see if it is right for you.Thankfully it is currently the weekend. As a result I have been able to try out this program and hopefully you will be able to as well.

Print Selected Info From Terminal Commands

I like using Terminal a lot. So much so I have a word document full of tricks and tips. Most I don’t use very often, but the ones I do use I will eventually end up sharing with you. As you develop scripts and programs using the bash Terminal, you may only want to select certain parts of a commands output. In my previous tutorial I used this command extensively. For example cutting certain pieces of information out of the hostname command. This is very useful to cut down on clutter. It doesn’t take long to implement. This sort of command is not designed for everyday use. Mostly in scripts.

Edit Time Machine’s Backup Intervals

I love using Time Machine as a backup tool. Although I do still do monthly backups, as a quick way of recovering old files nothing can beat it. Time Machine, by default, is set to backup every single hour. This can for some people be a problem. You may have a Mac which you are using for production use, the extra CPU and disk usage could bedetrimental to your work. As well as this, may be you only want Time Machine to back up once or twice a day, to keep back up disk usage down. On the face of it there isn’t a very easy way to do this. But a cool little program called TimeMachineEditor can do this all for you.

iPulse - A System Resources Monitor

The title of this posts makes this application sound like it is the run of the mill app for showing you resources information about your Mac. By resources I mean, CPU, memory, hard drive etc. All of the little pieces of hardware that make your Mac tick. This application, although shows this information, does it in a very unique and different way. I think it is quite funky and very different to the normal numbers on a window which you normally see. The style of this app reminds me of a gauge that you will see on a complicated piece of machinery. To you it looks a random mess of lines and shapes, but to a trained user it shows a whole range of information. This application is very similar to that.
