The sidebar in Finder 10.5 is great, I like how it works and how it is designed. But there is one small problem that could be improved and that is separators. Separators are designed to visually split up your interface. You can usually move these about. They are a great way of simply organizing your workspace.

This is a cool little application that can change the appearance of your folder icons quickly and easily. Its called Folder Tint and it is designed to run with the Core Animation engine to enable you to change the effects of folders within your system.

One of the best features that has come to Leopard 10.5 is Quicklook. If you don’t no about it, Quicklook enables you to open a file with out actually opening the program. Its great and you can quickly look inside files without opening programs, especially if you have a massive Photoshop file. Quicklook is accessed by pressing the space bar when any file is selected. This post is going to be about two cool tricks that you can use.

If you use your desktop a lot you usually end up with a lot of files and shortcuts scattered about the place. You may run out of room quickly but there is a new option that has been implemented in the new Leopard build to enable you to change the spacing between the icons.

Whats 25*253? Its a hard sum to do (the answer is 6325). Calculator is usually the only way to work out such a sum with out being a maths genius. But spotlight has a cool little feature than enables you to do basic calculations.

You may notice at the top of an average finder window the toolbar containing small icons to help you work better with your make. You can of course right click and customize your toolbar from the appropriate menu. But I have found a cool tip by accident that lets you change the view of the toolbar. A bit mundane but cool none the less.
